| Ugh… things have been so busy. I feel like I need a break. Everyday Monday thru Friday, I leave my house around 7:30am and get home around 5:45pm. That time is filled with clinic and class. Then I get home eat dinner and have to start on my homework. I completely loathe my biostatistics class, which gives me 6 hours of assignments a week. It wouldn’t be so bad if I had my weekend free, but I generally work weekend 6:00am until 2:30pm. So really I have no days off. I wish I could cut back on hours, but I’m already struggling with money and its just not an option. I just keep telling myself, “only 7 more months.” In May, I will finally be done with classes and will start my practicum year. I cannot wait! Next year will be fabulous! I will have my weekday nights free and all weekends. No more working at the cafeteria. It’s a wonderful feeling. So far I’m applying to four outplacements, which are: Mayo Hospital in Scotsdale, AZ Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary in Boston (affiliated with Harvard medical center) Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville, FL Nashville VA/Vanderbilt University in TN All have advantages and disadvantages, but I’m leaning toward Nashville only because they pay double what everyone else ($33,000) . But the other part of me doesn't want to live in Nashville. The AZ and FL placement are great. Very good at teaching. But they only pay $15,000 a year, which is so much less. And means that I would definitely have to take out more student loans. I'm not even sure I want to apply to the one in Boston anymore, only because the cost of living is so expensive. I still don't know how much they pay. Of course, I may not get accepted into one or more of them, which could change everything. On a side note, I’m going through con withdrawal. I want to go to youmacon so much! But my crappy class schedule and lack of funds won’t let me. Ohayocon is out because they pushed it back this year and is not longer during my winter break. I’m going to ACEN, definitely. It falls the week before finals, but my class load should be lighter next semester hopefully that won’t affect it too much. |

Wow, its been a long time since I’ve updated. It looks like the last time I made a real update, my sister was having a baby. That was some time ago, because the Amira is now 7 months old. She so cute! She looks a lot like my sister’s boyfriend (only a cuter girl version!). When I'm around her I get all maternal and really want to have a baby. Then she starts to fuss and I'm like "back to your mother you go!" It will definitely be several years before I have kids.  happyHere are a few picture of my cute little niece. ( Click here ) |

excitedMy sister's is having her baby! I'm at the hospital right now with my family. Her water broke this morning and contractions are about 3 minutes apart. I'm going to be an aunt today! I'm so excited! I will update later with pictures when the baby is born. :-) |

| I'm not one to get all sappy about Valentine's Day. But Katie made Valentine's day so special for me. It was the most perfect night I could have imagined. Katie and I got all dressed up in our fancy dresses. We started going out for dinner at the power house restaurant. We had a cute table for two with a view of the river. Katie was risky and got the duck and I played it safe and got the pasta. I was actually surprised that the duck wasnt too bad. I got dessert to go because Katie had a surprise for me. She had reserved a hotel room downtown Iowa City. It was by far the nicest and most romantic hotel room I've ever stayed. There was a rose on the bed, rose pedals in the bath tub, champaign, and yummy desserts. The bath tub was fabulous and breakfast in bed was amazing!! Katie and I didnt exchanged christmas gifts because we had no money at the time so we decided to exchange gifts for valentine's day instead. We both got each other Ipods. I got her flowers and a DVD, too. But of course my big gift was the wonderful hotel room and all its goodies! She's amazing. ^_^ Here are pictures of the hotel room and of us. Clicky here! |

| Last week I had surgery to remove a cyst from my neck. So for the better part of this past week I've been laying around doing a lot of nothing and letting the thing heal. The painfulness of it sucks, but its the first real break that I've had from school that i just let myself lay around and do nothing (with no work or clinic), which was really nice. Really, really nice. Finally, after several year I was able to start the 6th Harry Potter book, which I'm not almost finished with. I got the stitches from the surgery out today, which helped with the pain a lot. They were so tight they restricted movement. I'm now able to move my neck without it hurting too much, which means I now can sleep on my side. I have gotten so used to sleeping on my side and cuddling that I can't sleep on my back. This meant many nights where I couldn't fall asleep until 4 or 5 in the morning. But I suspect a good nights sleep tonight. I'm slightly concerned that it will leave a horrible scar. T_T The doctor said that it should go away in the next 5 or 6 month, so I'm hopeful. Right now it looks like someone tried to slit my throat, which makes me slightly self-conscious. School started today, which I was actually ready for. Since I haven't been doing too much for the past week, I actually don't feel too burned out. I really think this is going to be a good semester. I'm not sure why, but I just have a really good feeling about it. |

Back from Ohayocon and finally caught up on sleep. I had a lot more fun at the con than I expected to. I actually considered not going for a while because I was stressed about not getting my beatmania cosplay done (to be worn on friday) and did not have a new cosplay to wear on saturday. But i'm definitely glad I sucked it up and went because I had a great time. happyFor all the of picture, go here!!! |

| I cant believe that ohayocon is so close! I just wish there was another week for me to work on my cosplays. I started much too late on them. The last month of school was unexpectedly busy with huge papers and presentations to do. My new Xia cosplay is actually coming along pretty nicely though. I'm going to have to use some pieces from my original Xia cosplay, which I wanted to remake, but it will still look fine. I'm still not entirely sure what I will be wearing on saturday. I had planned on wearing aya from tenjou tenge, because I've only worn it for a couple of hours, but I cant find the skirt any where. I'm not sure what time we (Heidi, Stephanie, and I) are leaving yet. I'm scheduled to work on Thursday from 6am-2:15pm. When I asked for time off for Ohayocon, I asked for Thursday, Jan 4- Monday Jan.8th. However, Thursday is actually the 3rd. I realize its a mistake on my part, but I'm frustrated that my boss didn't ask me about the discrepancy between the day and date. I've ask around and there is not one to work for me on thursday. I may just call in sick because I really don't want to be driving that entire way in the dark especially with the weather being so bad lately. ( To Brittnay! ) , |

Posting again after a two month LJ absence. Despite not being actively updating still browse my friendlist periodically. I've been trying to figure out why its been so hard for me to update and I've come up with two things. First, my life's been pretty uneventful lately. Secondly, my camera broke since christmas last year so if something excited comes up like a con or fun things like cedarpoint con or glamacon, I have no pictures to post. :-( I currently looking at cameras and hoping to get a new one before ohayocon. Lately, I've just been taking random pictures with my camera on my phone. So I decided to post some random pictures I've taken over the last couple months. amused |

Katie and I got a kitty! He's the cutest thing ever. Katie's works at Petland and when she told me about an all white kitty I just knew I had to get him. ^_^ Right now, he's staying at my house, but when school starts he'll spend most of his time at Katie's since that's where I will most likely be. happySo far he has been really good. He's litter trained already. He's an attention whore and purrs all the time. We still haven't thought of a name yet. Any ideas? ( Picture of our kitty! ) |

 okayI got an email from So whats been going on with me? Basically, the usual, school and work. I'm working 40 hours a week at the cafeteria. Nothing too exciting there. I have my first outplacement this summer for my practicum. So I'm not longer seeing patients in the campus speech and hearing building. Now, seeing patients at the hearing aid center at the University of Iowa, Dept. of Otolarngology. I have that Monday and Wednesday for a total of 16 hours a week. So far its been really interesting. I'm still learning how the center operates so I'm not seeing patients on my own, yet. Between those two things, my days off are few and far between. Katie's in the chicago area for the summer, but she has been trying to visit whenever she has a chance. Tension between my family is greater than it ever has been. I hate living with my mom and my sister, which makes being at home incredibly depressing. I want to move out so bad, but can't due to financial reason (on their part, not mine). The lease is signed until the end of next summer and I plan out moving out as soon at its up. Only 14 months to go.. My next patient is going to be here soon so I will end this post here. I will hopefully continue to update a little my frequently now. |

Looking back at the events of Tuesday, there wasn’t anything that should have made me so miserable. Yeah, crappy things happened, but I can honestly say that I’m never felt that way before. But thankfully, I woke up on Wednesday feeling like my normal self. Although nothing really significant happened yesterday, just feeling better made the day awesome. I haven’t checked out about getting my car fixed yet. I worked all day and by the time I got home the insurance office was closed. Depending what my deductible is, I may not get it fix since it looks pretty drivable. Though, I should probably get it looked at just to make sure. much, much betterI’m still bummed about not making it to Detour. I really didn’t think that it would bother me as much. I know it’s for the better, but it doesn’t really make it any easier. Blah, now I’m just being emo. Oh well, I’m still really excited to see Brittnay and go to Chicago! And Acen isn’t too far away either. ^_^ |

I went to dinner with Heidi this evening and on the way home, I hit a deer. Technically, the deer hit me since it ran right into the side of my car. It happened right outside of the Mayflower (a dorm on campus). I was pretty scared so I pulled over. A girl yelled from her dorm window, "You just ranover that deer" Yeah, thanks for pointing out the obvious like I'm not feeling horrible about it already. The deer was was kinda walking around and then laid and died in the road. My car is drivable but it definitely has to be fixed. crappyOn top of the Katie issues, feeling like crap all day long, and the dead deer... can the day get any worse? I'm going to bed. |

 overwhelmedSorry Guys, Bad News… I’ve decided that I’m not going to Detour. I sat down and looked at my schedule and I realized that I had something going on every weekend leading up to finals. (Spring break in Due to the same reason, I’m not making any new cosplays for Acen. Tara and Walter, this means that I will not be doing the clue group. I’m sorry. T_T I don’t want any unnecessary stress trying to finish a costume during finals week. I may work on a non-group cosplay, but if I don’t finish it before Acen, then I don’t finish it. I’ll postpone it for AI or Youmacon. I won’t have to worry about getting it done for a group. I really don’t want a repeat of Ohayocon. Comments have been disabled, because this decision is not up for discussion. It is what it is. |

| I have electricity again! Power came back last night, so we spent around 24 hours with out it. It got to 35 degrees out yesterday, so it was just above freezing and a lot of the ice melted. My little brother was awesome and removed all the ice from my car. He thought it was fun to wack at it but, hey, whatever works. |
